The ox-tail soup that belongs to a diner named Tenda Biru
(The Blue Tent) in Temanggung is worthy to be a culinary destination if
you are visiting Central Java.
The ox-tail soup is quite popular for its
tender beef combined with spinaches and red beans. The combination of
the spices made the soup more savory and delicious.
The ox-tail soup diner is located on Jl. Dr. Wahidin No. 40
Temanggung, about 200 meters from Temanggung's town center. Tenda Biru
diner opens from 06:00 to 21:00 local time and is always crowded with
visitors. Cars from outside town always overcrowd the parking lot.
Beside ox-tail soup, the diner also offers other Javanese foods, such as Brongkos, Koyor, Soto and Rawon.
Wiwit, the second generation of the owner, said that she
always pressure-cooked the beef before boiling it, to make the beef more
tender and tasty.
According to her, the diner was previously named Warung Barokah (The Blessed Diner), however, due to several loyal customers suggestion, it changed to Tenda Biru, which
matched the colour of the tent previously used to sell the soup.
As the
demand was increasing, they moved to the current bigger diner, and
serve up to 80 kilograms of ox-tails, and more on holidays. The ox-tail
soup is priced at Rp23,000 per portion with rice.
