The fifth Dieng Culture Festival will be added to the Central Java tourism agenda. The Ruwatan gembel (the cutting of dreadlocks on children), additional lanterns, Jazz di Atas Awan avent have also been included in the list.
"This year [the festival] will involve people from the Dieng Wetan,"
said Hadi Supeno, Vice Regent of Banjarnegara, on Monday, March 24,
2014.
A tour package to explore the Pangonan Hill, where tourists can see
the savanna where lake Sumurup and Nirmala are located, have also ben
provided.
Hadi said that lake Nirmala is the place where Hanoman, a magical and
poweful monkey king character in the Javanese folklore, changed back to
its human form. The location is also the place where 'Purwaceng', a
Dieng ginseng, was first found.
Alif Rahman, Chairman of the Dieng Pandawa Tourism Awareness Group,
said that the number of tourists last year had decreased because of the
Timbang crater volcanic activity and damaged Dieng-Wonosobo roads.
Banjarnegara Tourism chief Aziz Ahmad, said that the Dieng Culture Festival will be held on August 30 and 31, 2014.
